Johanna Bell is an award-winning author, Churchill Fellow and the Creative Director of StoryProjects, a creative production house that strengthens communities through storytelling. She is passionate out community storytelling projects that surface hidden stories, challenge stereotypes and catalyse social change.

Johanna writes short stories, poetry and is working on a verbatim theatre project with the support of Brown’s Mart Arts. Her work has been shortlisted for national literary awards including the Overland Story Wine Prize and the Alan Marshall Short Story Prize and in 2016, she won the Northern Territory Literary Award.

Johanna’s first creative adventure, a picture book project, took her to Tennant Creek to work with Aboriginal artist Dion Beasley. Together, they zigzagged their way through the unmapped terrain of cross-cultural creation. The resulting work, Too Many Cheeky Dogs, was followed by Go Home Cheeky Animals! Dion and Johanna are now working on an illustrated memoir about Dion’s life.
