Lizzy T (Alice Springs, NT)

Lizzy first saw her friends performing with Incite Arts in Unbroken Land 2015: ‘When I saw the show in 2015 I felt I really wanted to do that.” Joining the ‘stArts with D’ Performance Ensemble, Lizzy participated in Unbroken Land 2016. With the support of Incite Arts artists/mentors she choreographed and performed a short work titled ‘Wanting…to speak Pitjantjatjara’. This performance work explored some of her hopes and desires to belong.

“I was glad I performed in 2016. I like to dance, that’s why I wanted to be in it. We recorded our voices for the show. That was good. I already had done this in primary school – I liked it. It was good to tell my story to the audience; it was MY voice. I liked being able to make my own decisions.”

Lizzy was pleased to be included and trusted Incite to support her, keep her safe and provide a high quality performance experience. The recording process with Language was a profound experience.

In 2017 Lizzy participated in the Poco Tutti / Sisters of Inventions Singing and Song Writing workshops held in partnership with the Alice Springs Desert Song Festival.

Lizzy’s aspirations include: “I want to dance in the bush and make a music video in the bush. I want to sing and learn about culture. I have family everywhere (in and around Alice Springs). I want to learn about my family songs and dances.” “I want to create a dance for only girls.”

Lizzy is a member of the Starts With D Performance Ensemble and Connect2Culture – an initiative that extends professional practice in the sector by providing professional development and career pathways for emerging and established artists with disability.
