Poet in Residence

John Scrutton is a poet and Woolwonga man who grew up in the Batchelor region His poetry describes how he grew up and traces his history and culture and life experiences. He is a member of the CemNTHeads drama group for people with mental health issues and has performed his poetry in two CemeNTHeads productions In My Skin, Darwin Fringe Festival, 2017 ad AnOther Story, Darwin Fringe, 2018 and for Spun with Story Projects for Darwin Festival, 2018.

CemeNTworx is a community theatre program that offers workshops, productions, and other theatre activities for all ages and communities. Its activities include: CemeNTmix (multicultural youth drama club), CemeNTjam (adult theatre jam group), CemeNTstars (theatre group of people with disabilities), CemeNTfiz (physical theatre) and Emotional Health Drama Workshops for schools and communities in remote areas. CemeNTworx also explores sound, voice, movement, dance, and multimedia practice towards an integrated multi-arts approach to community theatre.
